Dear Daddy-Long-Legs,

My window looks out on the loveliest landscape (мое окно выходит на восхитительнейший пейзаж; to look — смотреть, глядеть; выходить, быть обращенным /куда-либо, в какую-либо сторону/; land — земля; scape — пейзаж) — ocean-scape, rather (на океанский пейзаж, скорее) — nothing but water and rocks (ничего, кроме воды и скал).

The summer goes (лето проходит). I spend the morning (я провожу /каждое/ утро) with Latin (с латынью) and English (и английским) and algebra (и алгеброй) and my two stupid girls (и моими двумя бестолковыми девочками; stupid — глупый, тупой, бестолковый). I don't know how Marion is ever going to get into college (я не знаю, как Марион вообще собирается поступать в колледж; to get into a place — входить, попадать куда-либо), or stay in after she gets there (или остаться /в нем учиться/, после того, как она поступит). And as for Florence, she is hopeless (а что касается Флоренс, то она безнадежна) — but oh! such a little beauty (но, о, /она/ такая маленькая красавица). I don't suppose it matters in the least (мне кажется, что не имеет ни малейшего значения) whether they are stupid or not (бестолковые они или нет) so long as they are pretty (поскольку они хорошенькие)?
