T-хелпер второго типа (T-helper-2, Th2): T-клетки, которые обеспечивают иммунный ответ против червей и других крупных паразитов, таких как москиты, вши и клещи. Иммунный ответ типа Th2 (насморк, выделение слизи, набухание тканей) помогает отразить нашествие этих крупных возбудителей инфекционных заболеваний. Тогда как иммунный ответ типа Th1 носит клеточноопосредованный характер, ответ типа Th2 считается гуморальным, или опосредованным антителами. Аллергические заболевания, такие как сенная лихорадка или атопический дерматит, предположительно возникают в результате дисрегулированного иммунного ответа типа Th2. Однако в случае хронического заражения паразитическими червями (того, что называют модифицированным иммунным ответом типа Th2) аллергические заболевания возникают не всегда. Модифицированный иммунный ответ типа Th2 считается чрезвычайно толерантным.
