Храмовая гора (ивр. Хар а-Баит, араб. Харам аш-Шариф), она же библейская Мориа — cердце Иерусалима. Западная стена — величайшая святыня иудаизма — представляет собой часть подпорной стены площадки, на которой стоял храм Ирода. Сейчас на этой площадке (эспланаде) располагается комплекс мусульманских святынь, в том числе Купол Скалы и мечеть аль-Акса. Для многих людей эти 35 акров (14 га) остаются центром мироздания.

На этой стеле, обнаруженной в 1994 году в Тель-Дане (Северный Израиль), высечена надпись на арамейском языке, прославляющая победы сирийского царя Азаила над Иудеей («домом Давида»). Это можно считать археологическим доказательством того, что царь Давид дейстительно существовал.
