Эпилог       25 августа 2009 года сенатор Эдвард Кеннеди скончался в своем доме в Хайанисс-Порте от рака мозга. В субботу 29 августа на траурную церемонию прощания с сенатором собрались члены его семьи, известнейшие американские политики, включая трех бывших президентов Картера, Клинтона и Буша-младшего, действующий президент США Барак Обама с женой...    Желая проститься с сенатором, жители Бостона стояли под проливным дождем, чтобы увидеть, как гроб с телом Эдварда Кеннеди будет доставлен в церковь. Прощальные слова сенатору говорили его родные дети и приемные, его племянники, племянницы, внуки, внучатые племянники и президент Обама. Они говорили о его вере, убеждениях, о любви, чувстве юмора и умении договариваться даже с теми, кто не разделял его убеждений. Они улыбались и плакали...    Вечером в субботу Эдвард Мур Кеннеди обрел вечный покой на Арлингтонском кладбище под Вашингтоном недалеко от своих братьев президента Джона Кеннеди и сенатора Роберта Кеннеди.
