Проведя воображаемую линию под Землей до требуемой глубины, нужно провести вертикаль вверх до горизонта, там и будет находиться юг. Словесное объяснение звучит ужасно запутанно, но, изучив схему внизу и попрактиковавшись, вы увидите, что этот способ весьма прост в использовании. Нелегко провести воображаемую линию идеально ровно до нужной точки под Землей, расположенной под углом в несколько вытянутых кулаков (см. Приложение I о том, как измерить углы при помощи вытянутой вперед руки, сжатой в кулак).
