Тема нашего конгресса в этом году заявлена как «воспроизводство (persistence [403] ) империи». Эту тему я выбрал около года назад, надеясь таким образом способствовать развитию творческого подхода к имперской проблематике и стимулировать междисциплинарное обсуждение одной из основных особенностей изучаемого нами региона земного шара.
