В официальной истории сухопутных войск «Sicily and the Surrender of Italy» содержится наиболее подробное и, вероятно, наиболее точное описание операции на Сицилии. Морисон (Sicily, Salerno, Anzio) дает описание морского этапа вторжения более подробно, чем другие авторы, чьи работы были опубликованы в США, а Роскилл (The War at Sea, Vol. III) добавляет подробности Морисона обобщениями и оценками. В этих книгах содержится подробное описание сражения и его последствий. MS No.T–2 дает много информации с точки зрения немцев.
