But the Scarecrow said, "This is my battle (это моя битва), so lie down beside me and you will not be harmed (поэтому ложитесь около меня, и вы не пострадаете)." There were forty crows (/налетело/ сорок ворон), and forty times the Scarecrow twisted a neck (и сорок раз Страшила свертывал шею), until at last all were lying dead beside him (пока, наконец, все они не лежали мертвыми возле него).
