But the tumult without becoming suddenly more violent (но так как суматоха снаружи стала вдруг более бурной; without – снаружи; без; to become – становиться; violent – жестокий, неистовый, яростный), with a compulsory exertion he diverted his attention to the glare of ruddy light (усилием воли: «принудительным усилием» он перенаправил свое внимание на отблеск багрового света) thrown full by the flaming stables (полно = щедро отбрасываемого пылающими конюшнями; full – полный; вполне; в полной мере) upon the windows of the apartment (в окна /его/ покоев).
