Красный Адамант

Потом про вес сказано, что такое карат. Это, оказывается, всего-навсего две десятых грамма. Да его еще делят на «пункты», в одном карате сто пунктов, так по пунктам вес и считают. Я думаю, в красном несколько тыщ этих пунктов наберется.

Но вес это еще далеко не все. Ценность рассматривают по весу, по чистоте, по цвету и по «резке» — я так понимаю, что это огранка. И чем больше граней, тем сильнее он блестит. И все эти основные категории еще делятся на много разных других категорий, но это мне уже не разобраться, да и ни к чему.

Мне, главное, ценность моей находки выяснить, а это, оказывается, столько всего нужно знать, этому учиться надо либо специалисту отдавать, а никак нельзя, и я сильно приуныл.

Дальше вижу — большой кусок красным напечатан. Ну, думаю, что-то важное, хотя уже не очень надеюсь. Стал заниматься, и — батюшки мои! Красными буквами было вот что:

Somewhere between Tel Aviv and Rotterdam, the messenger disappeared and has never been seen or heard from since. The circumstances of his disappearance remaining unknown, the police had succeeded nevertheless in tracing the chain of middlemen when the stones resurfaced briefly in Israel.

The buyer of the rare gem, a Russian tycoon who does not wish his name to be known, blames the Israel Diamond Exchange saying that…
