"I'm here," moaned Hornblower, and Brown came and knelt over him.	-Я здесь, - простонал Хорнблауэр. Браун склонился над ним.
"Thank God, sir," he said, and then, raising his voice, "The cap'n's here, Mr Bush."	- Слава Богу, сэр, - сказал он, потом громче: -Мистер Буш, капитан здесь.
"Good!" said a feeble voice five yards away.	- Хорошо, - отозвался слабый голос ярдах в пяти.
At that Hornblower fought down his nauseating weakness and sat up.	Хорнблауэр поборол омерзительную слабость и сел.
If Bush were still alive he must be looked after at once.	Раз Буш жив, о нем надо позаботиться немедленно.
He must be naked and wet, exposed in the snow to this cutting wind.	Он раздетый и мокрый сидит на снегу под ледяным ветром.
Hornblower reeled to his feet, staggered, clutched Brown's arm, and stood with his brain whirling.	Хорнблауэр, пошатываясь, встал и ухватился за Брауна. Перед глазами плыло.
"There's a light up there, sir," said Brown, hoarsely.	-Там свет, сэр, - хрипло сказал Браун.
"I was just goin' to it if you hadn't answered my hail."	- Я уж собрался туда идти, если бы вы не откликнулись.
"A light?"	- Свет?
Hornblower passed his hands over his eyes and peered up the bank.	Хорнблауэр провел рукой по глазам и поглядел вверх.
Undoubtedly it was a light shining faintly, perhaps a hundred yards away.	Ярдах в ста действительно мерцал огонек.
To go there meant surrender - that was the first reaction of Hornblower's mind.	Идти туда значит сдаться - вот первое, о чем он подумал.
But to stay here meant death.	Остаться здесь значит умереть.
Even if by a miracle they could light a fire and survive the night here they would be caught next morning - and Bush would be dead for certain.	Даже если они чудом разожгут костер и переживут ночь, их поймают утром - а Буш, безусловно, умрет.

Hornblower was puzzled by his ability to think and to speak while he felt so weak; the ability seemed unreal, fictitious.	Хорнблауэр удивлялся, как при теперешней слабости может думать и говорить - это казалось фантастическим.
