Анализ различных вариантов такого взаимодействия позволил выявить 6 ключевых моделей развития социальных инноваций в университетах. Их основными характеристиками стали: расширение понятия социальных инноваций с уровня реализации социально-предпринимательских проектов до функции инновационного территориального хаба; вовлечение местного сообщества и территориальное развитие; междисциплинарная и трансдисциплинарная методология; открытый код и сетевое взаимодействие.

В заключение можно сказать, что развитие социальных инноваций стало своего рода вызовом для университетов: помимо научной и образовательной функции, для которой важна больше внутренняя коммуникация со студентами и сотрудниками, перед ними встала задача выполнения дополнительной, социальной функции, для которой необходимо организовывать коммуникации с неакадемическими сферами и организациями. Однако уже сейчас мы можем наблюдать широкий спектр удачных практик, подходов и опыта, полученных в результате ответа университетов на этот непростой вызов. Все эти активности отвечают общей, разделяемой всеми участниками цели: использовать имеющиеся в распоряжении университетов знания и ресурсы для того, чтобы служить местному сообществу наиболее эффективным и устойчивым образом.

Social innovation stands as a pivotal component in the implementation of the Third Mission. Universities worldwide are actively seeking pathways to innovate throughout the realm of all three missions, while keeping them in harmony. In this article, we delve into the various models of social innovation development within universities that can be currently identified. We will explore the criteria that set these models apart, presenting the author’s classification, which is derived from a comprehensive synthesis of existing experiences.

INTRODUCTION

Advancing social innovation is a pivotal component of the universities’ third mission. Many of the existing definitions of the term third mission focus on its linkage to the creation of public goods. This emphasizes the significance of the focus on engaging the broader public and local community members in university activities. Some scholars propose viewing the third mission exclusively as an endeavor that yields benefits to the surrounding community or region, contributing significantly to regional growth and development (Schnurbus, V. & Edvardsson, I. R., 2020).

With this study[142] we endeavored to gather and analyze the most prominent practices, from a scholarly perspective, of universities participating in the development of social innovation as part of the third mission implementation. Our primary focus was on identifying potential institutional approaches to realizing this mission, primarily through systemic projects entailing coordination across all three missions and engagement with the local community, alongside networked collaborations.
