121 Броду и Уэйду удалось запятнать многих других выдающихся ученых, не исключая самого Галилея. Воспользовавшись галилеевским романизированным вариантом с изложением его научных взглядов и полагаясь на весьма специфическую интерпретацию трудов Галилея историком науки Койре, Брод и Уэйд включили великого ученого в свой список «хорошо известных или весьма подозрительных случаев подлога в науке» за то, что он якобы «преувеличил результаты эксперимента». Авторы похоронили в сносках убедительные свидетельства неверного истолкования Койре работ Галилея и ссылки на более поздних историков науки, таких как Сеттл и Дрейк, которые более внимательно изучили наследие великого ученого.
