Then he asked (затем он загадал):

Alive without breath (живое без дыханья),

As cold as death (холодное, как смерть);

Never thirsty (никогда не испытывает жажду), ever drinking (/но/ всегда пьет),

All in mail (всё в броне) never clinking (/но/ никогда не звенит).
