He looked down at the Mabden. He wore a bulky wolfskin coat covered by a halfbyrnie of iron links, a helmet that covered most of his face and which had slipped to blind him. Corum tugged at the helmet until it was free, tossed it aside and then gasped.

This was no Mabden (это был не мабден). Nor was it a Vadhagh (и не вадаг). It was the bloodied face of a Nhadragh (то было окровавленное лицо надрага), dark with flat features (темное, с приплюснутым носом; flat — плоский, приплюснутый, ровный; feature — свойство, признак; черта лица) and hair growing down to the ridge of the eyesockets (и волосами, росшими у края глазниц = от самых бровей; ridge — горный хребет; край, ребро /монеты/; eyesocket: eye — глаз; socket — впадина, гнездо).

`Help me, master, said the Nhadragh again (сказал надраг снова). `I am not too badly hurt (я не слишком сильно ранен; badly — очень сильно, крайне; плохо). I can still be of service (я все еще могу быть полезным; service — служба, занятие, одолжение).

`To whom, Nhadragh (кому, надраг)? said Corum softly (сказал Корум тихо). He tore off a piece of the man's sleeve (он оторвал кусок рукава надрага; to tear off — отрывать, срывать, сдирать) and wiped the blood free of the eyes (и вытер кровь, /залившую/ глаза). The Nhadragh blinked, focusing on him (надраг заморгал, пытаясь разглядеть его; to blink — мигать, моргать; щуриться; to focus on — концентрировать внимание, устремлять взор). `Who would you serve, Nhadragh (кому ты будешь служить, надраг)? Would you serve me (мне)?

The Nhadragh's dazed eyes cleared (затуманенные глаза надрага прояснились; dazed — неподвижный, оцепенелый; изумленный; eyes — глаза, взор) and then filled with an emotion (и затем наполнились чувством) Corum could only surmise was hatred (/которое/ Корум мог лишь предположить — ненавистью; to surmise — предполагать, подозревать).

This was no Mabden. Nor was it a Vadhagh. It was the bloodied face of a Nhadragh, dark with flat features and hair growing down to the ridge of the eyesockets.

`Help me, master, said the Nhadragh again. `I am not too badly hurt. I can still be of service.

`To whom, Nhadragh? said Corum softly. He tore off a piece of the man's sleeve and wiped the blood free of the eyes. The Nhadragh blinked, focusing on him. `Who would you serve, Nhadragh? Would you serve me?

The Nhadragh's dazed eyes cleared and then filled with an emotion Corum could only surmise was hatred.

`Vadhagh! snarled the being (прорычало существо). `A Vadhagh lives (живой вадаг)!
