Serwde only half understood what Corum was saying (Сервд лишь наполовину понимал, что Корум говорил), but he listened politely until Corum stopped, then he said (но он слушал вежливо, пока Корум не остановился, /а/ затем сказал):

I want to go back to Glandyth and follow him until I see him alone (я хочу вернуться к Гландиту и идти за ним, пока не встречу его одного; to follow — идти за, следовать; преследовать). Then I want to kill him (затем я хочу убить его). After that, I will wish only to die (а после этого я хочу лишь умереть).

Serwde looked sadly at Corum (Сервд посмотрел печально на Корума).

`You kill (ты убивать)?

`Only Glandyth (только Гландита). He killed my people (он убил мой народ).

`I do, Serwde (я убиваю, Сервд). I am the last Vadhagh (я последний вадаг). And I am the first to learn what it is to kill in malice (и я первый, чтобы научиться = кто научился убивать сознательно; malice — злоба; злой умысел). I will be avenged on those who maimed me (я отомщу тем, кто искалечил меня), on those who took away my family (тем, кто отнял мою семью; to take away — убирать, уносить; отнимать).

Serwde grunted miserably (Сервд хрюкнул несчастно).

`Eat (ешь). Sleep (спи).

Corum stood up again and realised he was very weak (Корум снова поднялся и понял, /что/ очень слаб).

Serwde shook his head.

`Vadhagh not kill like that.

`I do, Serwde. I am the last Vadhagh. And I am the first to learn what it is to kill in malice. I will be avenged on those who maimed me, on those who took away my family.

Serwde grunted miserably.

`Eat. Sleep.

Corum stood up again and realised he was very weak.

`Perhaps you are right there (возможно, тут ты прав). Perhaps I should try to restore my strength before I carry on (может, мне следует постараться восстановить силы, прежде чем я продолжу /путь/). He went to the pile of nuts and fruits and began to eat (он набросился на кучку орехов и фруктов и принялся есть). He could not eat much at first and lay down again to sleep (он не смог съесть много сначала = сразу и снова лег, чтобы поспать), confident that Serwde would rouse him if danger threatened (уверенный, что Сервд разбудит его, если появится какая-нибудь опасность; to threaten — грозить; угрожать).

For five days Corum stayed in the valley with the Brown Man of Laahr (пять дней Корум прожил в лощине с Мохнатым Человеком из Лаара; to stay — оставаться; жить, гостить). He hoped that the dark faced creature would come back (он надеялся, что темнолицее существо вернется) and tell him more of his and Serwde's origin (и расскажет ему больше о своем происхождении и Сервда = откуда они с Сервдом), but this did not happen (но этого не произошло).

At last his wounds had healed completely (наконец его раны полностью зажили; to heal — исцелять; заживать, заживляться) and he felt well enough to set off on a journey (и он почувствовал /себя/ довольно хорошо, чтобы отправиться в путь; journey — путешествие, поездка; путь). On that morning, he addressed Serwde (в то утро он обратился к Сервду).
