The Birthday of the Infanta

It was the birthday of the Infanta (у Инфанты был день рождения). She was just twelve years of age (ей было = исполнялось всего двенадцать лет; age — возраст), and the sun was shining brightly (и солнце ярко светило; to shine — светить, сиять) in the gardens of the palace (в дворцовых садах: «в садах дворца»).
