But his Soul answered (но его Душа ответила), `Nay, but let us tarry (нет, но давай остановимся /в городе/; to tarry — пребывать, останавливаться), for the night is dark (потому как ночь темная) and there will be robbers on the way (а на дороге будут разбойники; robber — грабитель, разбойник, вор).'

But his Soul answered, `Nay, but let us tarry, for the night is dark and there will be robbers on the way.'

And the merchant said to him (и купец сказал ему), `Why dost thou sit in the market-place (почему ты сидишь на рыночной площади; dost thou = do you), seeing that the booths are closed (видя, что все лавчонки закрыты) and the bales corded (и тюки /с товарами/ связаны веревками; bale — кипа /товара/, тюк; cord — тонкая веревка, шнурок)?'

And the young Fisherman answered him (и молодой Рыбак ответил ему), `I can find no inn in this city (я не могу найти в этом городе ни одного постоялого двора), nor have I any kinsman (и нет у меня ни одного родственника) who might give me shelter (который мог бы дать мне кров).'

`Are we not all kinsmen (разве мы все не родственники)?' said the merchant (сказал купец). `And did not one God make us (и не один ли Бог создал нас)? Therefore come with me (поэтому пойдем со мной), for I have a guest-chamber (потому что у меня есть комната для гостей; guest — гость, chamber — комната /в жилом доме/).'
