Возможность выражается несколькими путями (о способах выражения возможности, обусловленной знанием и способностью, см. § 118). Прежде всего, используются прилагательное possible, существительное possibility, наречия possibly, perhaps.It is possible that he will come.
There is a possibility of his coming (that he will come).
Possibly he has not heard the news yet.
Perhaps he has been ill.

Когда к возможности примешивается оттенок сомнения, неуверенности, употребляется глагол may (might).It may rain tomorrow.

I may -be away from home tomorrow.

That may, or may not, be true.

Might употребляется в косвенной речи, когда сказуемое главного предложения стоит в прошедшем времени. Однако might может выражать также отдаленную или неопределенную возможность в будущем. Сравните:Take an umbrella. It will rain before evening.

I think you should take an umbrella. It might rain before evening.
