Весомое место в стратегии регионального развития отведено профессиональному образованию — вопросам модернизации сети образовательных учреждений с целью приведения их в соответствие с требованиями регионального рынка труда, обеспечения высоких показателей качества подготовки и трудоустройства выпускников, реализации стратегической инициативы «Кадры будущего для регионов», подготовки общественно-профессиональных экспертов и ряду других. Эти вопросы отражены и в стратегической программе развития Курского государственного университета, что свидетельствует о сопоставимости и взаимодополняемости двух документов.

Отметим также, что в университете создана и продолжает свою работу научно-исследовательская лаборатория по реализации стратегии Курской области, которая, помимо привлечения к научно-исследовательской деятельности студентов, аспирантов и молодых ученых университета, осуществляет экспертизу и аналитические исследования по региональному стратегированию, проводит моделирование ведущих направлений стратегии развития региона, обращается к вопросам изучения возможностей применения в региональных условиях современных достижений в сфере стратегического управления и развития.

Можно с уверенностью сказать, что разработка собственной стратегии развития, а также участие университета в подготовке и последовательной реализации региональных стратегий развития свидетельствуют об успешной трансформации университета от традиционного вуза к вузу как центру инновационного и культурного развития Соловьиного края.

The University’s Third Mission in Russia’s “Land of nightingales”

The regional university’s third mission is closely intertwined with the pursuit of cultural and social development goals within the region, fostering productive collaborations with local authorities, businesses, and nonprofits. At the forefront of the academic landscape in the “Land of Nightingales”[117] is Kursk State University (KSU), which has integrated these goals into its strategic development program. This article highlights the key ways in which the university actively engages in the growth of the Kursk Region. Drawing on a sociological study conducted in March-April 2023, we highlight various properties of the university’s organizational culture that empower it to effectively fulfill its missions.

THE THREE MISSIONS OF KURSK STATE UNIVERSITY

KSU holds the title of being the oldest higher education institution in the Kursk Region, poised to celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2024. More than 10,000 students are currently enrolled in various Specialist’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degree programs at the University. Additionally, 167 students are part of post-graduate programs that train research and teaching personnel, and 723 individuals are engaged in the secondary vocational education programs.[118] The University offers an impressive array of 309 core and 264 supplementary educational programs across 16 faculties and the College of Commerce, Technology and Service. These academic pursuits are guided by 420 highly committed teachers, of which over 80 % hold doctoral or PhD degrees.[119]

The university stands tall in Russia’s academic landscape, holding its position among the top 100 institutions according to the RAEX-100 Rankings.[120] This year’s assessment by RAEX-Analytica ranks KSU as number 38 in graduate employability. Similarly, M-Rate media activity rating places KSU within the top 100 institutions in Russia.[121] Adding to this accomplishment, in June 2023 KSU’s official VK group ranked among the top 30 in said rating.
