But what shall we do? "	Но чем же мы можем тут помочь?
"Are there many of these mice which call you Queen and are willing to obey you? "	- Много ли у вас, ваше величество, подданных, готовых выполнить любое ваше приказание?
"Oh, yes; there are thousands, " she replied.	- Тысячи и тысячи! - последовал ответ.
"Then send for them all to come here as soon aspossible, and let each one bring a long piece of string.!!	- Тогда пусть все они соберутся здесь, и пусть каждая мышь захватит с собой веревочку.
The Queen turned to the mice that attended her and told them to go at once and get all her people.	Королева обернулась к своим подданным, с интересом слушавшим разговор, и велела им поскорее собрать всех мышей.
As soon as they heard her orders they ran away in every direction as fast as possible.	Они врассыпную бросились выполнять приказ.
"Now, " said the Scarecrow to the Tin Woodman, "you must go to those trees by the riverside and make a truck that will carry the Lion. "	- А теперь, - обратился Страшила к Железному Дровосеку, - тебе надо нарубить деревья и сделать тачку.
So the Woodman went at once to the trees and began to work; and he soon made a truck out of the limbs of trees, from which he chopped away all the leaves and branches.	Железный Дровосек тотчас же принялся за работу и вскоре нарубил маленьких деревьев, очистил стволы от веток и листьев и потом скрепил их деревянными колышками.
He fastened it together with wooden pegs and made the four wheels out of short pieces of a big tree trunk.	Он сделал также четыре колеса из обрубков ствола побольше.
So fast and so well did he work that by the time the mice began to arrive the truck was all ready for them.	Дровосек работал так споро, что, когда начали собираться мыши, тачка была уже почти готова.
They came from all directions, and there were thousands of them: big mice and little mice and middle-sized mice; and each one brought a piece of string in his mouth.	Мыши прибывали со всех сторон - крупные, средние и совсем маленькие. У каждой во рту была веревочка.
It was about this time that Dorothy woke from her long sleep and opened her eyes.	Как раз в это время пробудилась от долгого сна и открыла глаза Дороти.
She was greatly astonished to find herself lying upon the grass, with thousands of mice standing around and looking at her timidly.	Она с удивлением обнаружила, что лежит на траве, а вокруг нее несметные количества мышей, взирающих на нее с не меньшим удивлением.
But the Scarecrow told her about everything, and turning to the dignified little Mouse, he said:	Но Страшила быстро объяснил ей, что происходит, а затем обернулся к Королеве Мышей и сказал:

Dorothy nodded gravely and the Queen made a curtsy, after which she became quite friendly with the little girl.	Дороти вежливо поздоровалась с Королевой. Мышь ответила учтивым поклоном. Они сразу понравились друг другу.
