— Vysotsky had always told the truth. Only once he has made a mistake when he said in one of his songs: «They will never build my monument in a square somewhere near Petrovskiye Vorota». (
— But it wasn’t a mistake, — возражает иностранец. — It seems to me that Vysotsky in such ironical way had expressed his serious will to have this monument. He did want it and he has got it. (
— Yes, you are very near to his own words. There was some kind of a questionnaire in the theatre and answering a point «Do you want to be great, and why?» Vysotsky wrote: «Хочу и буду» — «I want to and I shall». (
— Well, how it sounds in Russian?.. «Khatchoo i boodoo?» I’ll try to remember it. (
— The tall man in a long black raincoat is Yevtushenko and that one with a shawl round his neck is Voznesensky. Both of them are very famous poets. (
— Oh yes, I have heard their names but, truly, I’ve never read any of their works. But why are they so mournful? Their friend has died already fifteen years ago and today there is not a funeral here but a feast… (
— Maybe they are thinking about their own place in eternity. You see, this boulevard starts with a monument of Pushkin. The next one, Tverskoy, will have Yesenin’s soon. Blok is not far from him. To the right side in Tverskaya street you will meet Mayakovsky. Today Vysotsky has joined a very good company of legendary Russian poets. Are there any vacancies in it? I am not sure. (
