 Now, the prince lived on Lonesome Island three years longer, till one time he came home from hunting, and found his mother wringing her hands and shedding bitter tears.

“Oh! what has happened?” asked he.

“Well, mother, I’ll go to help the king of Erin (что ж, мама, я отправлюсь на помощь: «помочь» королю Ирландии), if you give me leave (если ты меня отпустишь: «дашь мне разрешение»; leave – разрешение, позволение; отпуск).”

“Since you have said it (поскольку ты сказал это), you shall go this very night (ты отправишься /в путь/ сегодня же ночью: «этой самой ночью»).”

 “I am weeping because the king of Spain has gone to take vengeance on the king of Erin for the death of his father, whom you killed.”

“Well, mother, I’ll go to help the king of Erin, if you give me leave.”

“Since you have said it, you shall go this very night.”

He went to the shore (он пошел на берег моря). Putting the prow of his bark to the sea (обратив нос своего барка в море; bark – барк, большое парусное судно) and her stern to land (а корму – к суше), he raised high the sails (он поднял высоко паруса), and heard no sound as he went (и не слышал на своем пути никаких звуков: «и /не/ слышал никакого звука пока он шел») but the pleasant wind (кроме приятного = ласкающего слух ветра) and the whistling of eels (и свиста угрей), till he pulled up his boat next morning (пока он /не/ вытащил свою лодку на следующее утро) under the castle of the king of Erin (под /окнами/ замка короля Ирландии) and went on shore (и сошел на берег).
