“They shall go (они пойдут),” said the queen; and away went the three young men towards the East (и /вот/ трое молодых людей отправились на Восток: «по направлению к Востоку»), in search of the flaming well (в поисках огненного колодца).

 When the prince was told of the sickness of the queen of Erin, he came to her and said, “I’ll go for the water if your two sons will go with me.”

“They shall go,” said the queen; and away went the three young men towards the East, in search of the flaming well.

In the morning they came to a house on the roadside (поутру они пришли к одному дому на обочине дороги; road – дорога; side – сторона, бок; roadside – край дороги, обочина, придорожная полоса); and going in, they saw a woman (и, войдя внутрь, они увидели какую-то женщину) who had washed herself in a golden basin (которая /уже/ умылась в золотом тазу; to wash – мыть; мыться, умываться; basin – миска; таз, умывальник, раковина) which stood before her (который стоял перед ней; to stand /stood/). She was then wetting her head (тогда = в тот момент она увлажняла свои волосы: «свою голову»; wet – мокрый; to wet – мочить, смачивать, увлажнять) with the water in the basin (водой из таза), and combing her hair with a golden comb (и расчесывала их: «свои волосы» золотым гребнем).

 In the morning they came to a house on the roadside; and going in, they saw a woman who had washed herself in a golden basin which stood before her. She was then wetting her head with the water in the basin, and combing her hair with a golden comb.

She threw back her hair (она отбросила волосы назад; to throw /threw, thrown/), and looking at the prince, said (и, взглянув на принца, сказала), “You are welcome, sister’s son (добро пожаловать, племянник: «ты долгожданный, сын сестры»). What is on you (что с тобой случилось: «что на тебе»)? Is it the misfortune of the world (уж не мирская ли беда) that has brought you here (привела тебя сюда; to bring /brought/)?”

 She threw back her hair, and looking at the prince, said, “You are welcome, sister’s son. What is on you? Is it the misfortune of the world that has brought you here?”

“It is not (нет); I am going to Tubber Tintye for three bottles of water (я направляюсь к Таббер Тинти за тремя бутылками воды).”

“That is what you’ll never do (этого тебе никогда не осуществить: «это то, что тебе никогда не осуществить»; to do – делать, производить действие; осуществлять, выполнять, проделывать); no man can cross the fiery river (никто не может пересечь огненную реку; fire – огонь; fiery – огненный, пламенный) or go through the enchantments around Tubber Tintye (или пройти сквозь чары = зачарованные места вокруг Таббер Тинти). Stay here with me (останься здесь со мной), and I’ll give you all I have (и я подарю: «отдам» тебе все, что у меня есть).”
