 “It is not; I am going to Tubber Tintye for three bottles of water.”

“That is what you’ll never do; no man can cross the fiery river or go through the enchantments around Tubber Tintye. Stay here with me, and I’ll give you all I have.”

“No, I cannot stay, I must go on (нет, я не могу остаться, я должен идти дальше).”

“Well, you’ll be in your other aunt’s house tomorrow night (что ж, ты будешь в доме своей другой тети завтра вечером; night – ночь; вечер), and she will tell you all (и она-то тебе все и расскажет).”

 “No, I cannot stay, I must go on.”

“Well, you’ll be in your other aunt’s house tomorrow night, and she will tell you all.”

Next morning (на следующее утро), when they were getting ready to take the road (когда они собирались в путь: «становились готовыми выбрать дорогу»; to take – брать; выбирать), the elder son of the queen of Erin was frightened (старший сын королевы Ирландии испугался того: «был напуган тем») at what he had heard (что он услышал; to hear /heard/), and said (и сказал),

“I am sick (я болен); I cannot go farther (я не могу идти дальше).”

“Stop here where you are (оставайся здесь, в этом самом месте: «где ты находишься») till I come back (пока я не вернусь: «не приду назад»),” said the prince.

 Next morning, when they were getting ready to take the road, the elder son of the queen of Erin was frightened at what he had heard, and said,

“I am sick; I cannot go farther.”

“Stop here where you are till I come back,” said the prince.

Then he went on with the younger brother (тогда он пошел дальше с младшим братом), till at sunset they came to a house (пока на закате они не пришли к одному дому) where they saw a woman (где они увидели какую-то женщину) wetting her head from a golden basin (которая увлажняла свои волосы: «свою голову» /водой/ из золотого таза), and combing her hair with a golden comb (и расчесывала их: «свои волосы» золотым гребнем).

 Then he went on with the younger brother, till at sunset they came to a house where they saw a woman wetting her head from a golden basin, and combing her hair with a golden comb.

She threw back her hair (она отбросила волосы /от лица: «назад»/; to throw /threw, thrown/), looked at the prince, and said (взглянула на принца и сказала), “You are welcome, sister’s son (добро пожаловать, племянник: «ты долгожданный, сын сестры»)! What brought you to this place (что привело тебя сюда: «в это место»; to bring /brought/ – приносить, привозить; приводить)? Was it the misfortune of the world (уж не мирская ли беда) that brought you to live under Druidic spells (заставила тебя жить под чарами друидов; to bring /brought/ – приносить; to bring smb. to do smth. – заставлять, вынуждать) like me and my sisters (как меня и моих сестер)?” This was the elder sister of the queen of the Lonesome Island (это была старшая сестра королевы Одинокого Острова).
