'Fifteenth,' said the March Hare.
'Sixteenth,' added the Dormouse.
'Write that down,' the King said to the jury, and the jury eagerly wrote down all three dates on their slates, and then added them up, and reduced the answer to shillings and pence.
'Take off your hat (сними свою шляпу),' the King said to the Hatter.
'It isn't mine (она не моя),' said the Hatter.
'Stolen (украдена; to steal — красть)!' the King exclaimed, turning to the jury (воскликнул Король, поворачиваясь к присяжным), who instantly made a memorandum of the fact (которые тут же записали этот факт; memorandum — меморандум, памятная записка; to make a memorandum of smth. — записать что-либо на память).
'I keep them to sell (я держу их для продажи: «чтобы продавать»),' the Hatter added as an explanation (добавил Шляпник в качестве объяснения); 'I've none of my own (у меня нет ни одной своей собственной). I'm a hatter (я шляпник).'
Here the Queen put on her spectacles, and began staring at the Hatter (в этот момент Королева надела свои очки и начала пристально рассматривать Шляпника), who turned pale and fidgeted (который побледнел и заерзал).

'Give your evidence (давай свои показания; evidence — ясность, наглядность; улика, свидетельское показание),' said the King; 'and don't be nervous, or I'll have you executed on the spot (и не нервничай, а не то я прикажу казнить тебя на месте; spot — пятно; место).'
This did not seem to encourage the witness at all (это, казалось, вовсе не взбодрило свидетеля): he kept shifting form one foot to the other (он продолжал переминаться с одной ноги на другую; to shift — перемещаться, передвигаться), looking uneasily at the Queen (беспокойно поглядывая на Королеву), and in his confusion he bit a large piece out of his teacup instead of the bread-and-butter (и, в замешательстве, откусил большой кусок от своей чайной чашки вместо бутерброда).

Just at this moment Alice felt a very curious sensation (как раз в этот момент Алиса почувствовала какое-то очень странное ощущение), which puzzled her a good deal until she made out what it was (которое ее очень озадачило, пока она не поняла, что это такое): she was beginning to grow larger again (она снова начинала расти), and she thought at first she would get up and leave the court (и поначалу она подумала, что она поднимется и покинет зал суда); but on second thoughts she decided to remain where she was as long as there was room for her (но, по размыслив, она решила оставаться на месте до тех пор, пока для нее будет место; second thought — мысль, пришедшая и голову после размышления; букв. вторая мысль).
'I wish you wouldn't squeeze so (мне бы хотелось, чтобы ты так не толкалась; to squeeze — сжимать, сдавливать, подвергать давлению).' said the Dormouse, who was sitting next to her (сказала Соня, которая сидела рядом с ней). 'I can hardly breathe (я едва могу дышать).'

'I can't help it (я ничего не могу поделать),' said Alice very meekly (сказала Алиса очень кротко): 'I'm growing (я расту).'
'You've no right to grow here (ты не имеешь права расти здесь; right — правота, правильность; право, привилегия),' said the Dormouse.
'Don't talk nonsense (не говорите чепуху),' said Alice more boldly (сказал Алиса посмелей): 'you know you're growing too (вы же знаете, что вы тоже растете).'
