When the moon rose (когда взошла луна; to rise (rose, risen)— восходить, подниматься) he flew back to the Happy Prince (он полетел назад, к Счастливому Принцу). `Have you any commissions for Egypt (нет ли у тебя: «есть ли у тебя» каких-нибудь поручений в Египет)?' he cried (воскликнул он); `I am just starting (я как раз отправляюсь в путь; to start — отправляться, трогаться).'

`Swallow, Swallow, little Swallow,' said the Prince, `will you not stay with me one night longer (не останешься ли ты со мной на еще одну ночь; long — долго, длительно)?'

`Tonight I go to Egypt,' said the Swallow, and he was in high spirits at the prospect. He visited all the public monuments, and sat a long time on top of the church steeple. Wherever he went the Sparrows chirruped, and said to each other, `What a distinguished stranger!' so he enjoyed himself very much.

When the moon rose he flew back to the Happy Prince. `Have you any commissions for Egypt?' he cried; `I am just starting.'

`Swallow, Swallow, little Swallow,' said the Prince, `will you not stay with me one night longer?'

`I am waited for in Egypt (меня ждут в Египте),' answered the Swallow (ответил Ласточка). `To-morrow my friends will fly up to the Second Cataract (завтра мои друзья полетят ко Вторым Порогам /на Ниле/; cataract — большой водопад, порог на реке). The river-horse couches there (бегемот залег там; river — река, horse — лошадь, конь; to couch — уложить; залечь, притаиться /о животном/) among the bulrushes (среди камышей), and on a great granite throne (и на огромном гранитном троне) sits the God Memnon (восседает Бог Мемнон). All night long he watches the stars (всю ночь напролет он наблюдает за звездами), and when the morning star shines (и /каждый раз/ когда засияет утренняя звезда /= Венера/) he utters one cry of joy (он издает /один/ крик радости = радостно восклицает; to utter — издавать звук, произносить), and then he is silent (и затем он молчит: «он молчаливый»). At noon the yellow lions (в полдень желтые львы) come down to the water's edge to drink (спускаются к берегу реки на водопой: «к краю воды чтобы напиться»; edge — острие, край). They have eyes like green beryls (их глаза похожи: «у них есть глаза, похожие» на зеленые бериллы), and their roar is louder (и их рык громче; roar — рев, грохот) than the roar of the cataract (чем рев водопада).'
