It certainly was a marvellous bullfight (бой быков был действительно восхитительный), and much nicer (и гораздо красивее/изящнее), the Infanta thought (думала Инфанта; to think (thought)), than the real bull-fight (чем настоящий бой быков) that she had been brought to see at Seville (на который ее возили посмотреть в Севилью; to bring (brought) — приносить; приводить, привозить), on the occasion of the visit of the Duke of Parma to her father (по случаю визита Герцога Пармского к ее отцу). Some of the boys pranced about (некоторые из мальчиков гарцевали; to prance — становиться на дыбы; гарцевать) on richly-caparisoned hobby-horses (на игрушечных лошадках, богато покрытых попонами; hobby-horse — палочка с лошадиной головой) brandishing long javelins (размахивая длинными копьями) with gay streamers of bright ribands attached to them (к которым были прикреплены пестрые вымпелы из ярких лент; gay — веселый; яркий, пестрый, нарядный); others went on foot (другие, пешие: «другие ходили пешком/на ногах»; to go (went, gone)) waving their scarlet cloaks (размахивая своими алыми плащами; to wave — развевать(ся), размахивать) before the bull (перед быком), and vaulting lightly over the barrier (и легко перепрыгивали через барьер/ограждение) when he charged them (когда он нападал на них; to charge — нагружать; атаковать, набрасываться); and as for the bull himself (а что касается самого быка) he was just like a live bull (он был совсем как настоящий/живой бык), though he was only made of wicker-work (хотя он просто был изготовлен из плетенки; to wicker — плести из прутьев) and stretched hide (и обтянут шкурой; to stretch — растягивать, натягивать), and sometimes insisted on running round the arena (и иногда настаивал на том, чтобы бегать по: «вокруг» арене) on his hind legs (на своих задних ногах), which no live bull ever dreams of doing (о чем ни один живой/настоящий бык никогда и не помышляет; to dream — видеть сон; думать, помышлять).
