Маленький принц

"It is the time I have wasted for my rose - " said the little prince, so that he would be sure to remember.	- Потому что я отдавал ей все свои дни... -повторил Маленький принц, чтобы лучше запомнить.
"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.	- Люди забыли эту истину, - сказал Лис, - но ты не забывай: ты навсегда в ответе за всех, кого приручил.
You are responsible for your rose..."	Ты в ответе за твою розу.
"I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.	- Я в ответе за мою розу... - повторил Маленький принц, чтобы лучше запомнить.

Good morning," said the little prince.	- Добрый день, - сказал Маленький принц.
"Good morning", said the railway switchman.	- Добрый день, - отозвался стрелочник.
"What do you do here?" the little prince asked.	- Что ты делаешь? - спросил Маленький принц.
"I sort out travelers, in bundles of a thousand" , said the switchman.	- Сортирую пассажиров, - отвечал стрелочник.
"I send off the trains that carry them: now to the right, now to the left."	- Отправляю их в поездах по тысяче человек зараз- один поезд направо, другой налево.
And a brilliantly lighted express train shook the switchman's cabin as it rushed by with a roar like thunder.	И скорый поезд, сверкая освещенными окнами, с громом промчался мимо, и будка стрелочника вся задрожала.
"They are in a great hurry," said the little prince.	- Как они спешат! - удивился Маленький принц.
"What are they looking for?"	- Что они ищут?
"Not even the locomotive engineer knows that," said the switchman.	- Даже сам машинист этого не знает, - сказал стрелочник.
And a second brilliantly lighted express thundered by, in the opposite direction.	И в другую сторону, сверкая огнями, с громом пронесся еще один скорый поезд.
"Are they coming back already?" demanded the little prince.	- Они уже возвращаются? - спросил Маленький принц.
"These are not the same ones," said the switchman.	- Нет, это другие, - сказал стрелочник.
"It is an exchange."	- Это встречный.
"Were they not satisfied where they were?" asked the little prince.	- Им было нехорошо там, где они были прежде?
"No one is ever satisfied where he is," said the switchman.	- Там хорошо, где нас нет, - сказал стрелочник.
And they heard the roaring thunder of a third brilliantly lighted express.	И прогремел, сверкая, третий скорый поезд.
"Are they pursuing the first travelers?" demanded the little prince.	- Они хотят догнать тех, первых? - спросил Маленький принц.
"They are pursuing nothing at all," said the switchman.	- Ничего они не хотят, - сказал стрелочник.
"They are asleep in there, or if they are not asleep they are yawning.	- Они спят в вагонах или просто сидят и зевают.
