Меня утешает то, что я начинаю считать безумие такой же болезнью, как и все остальные, и принимаю его как таковое.
Один из способов понять болезнь – описать, что она собой представляет, а это и было задачей предыдущей главы. Альтернативный вариант – описать, чем она не является. В случае с шизофренией это особенно важно сделать, поскольку в прошлом этот термин использовался широко и неточно как в массовой культуре, так и в медицине. Если мы хотим продвинуться в понимании этого заболевания, то прежде всего должны чётко представлять, о чём идёт речь.
