Siddhartha never listened to Kamaswami's worries and Kamaswami had many worries.	Никогда Сиддхартха не выказывал сочувствия заботам Камасвами.
Whether there was a business-deal going on which was in danger of failing, or whether a shipment of merchandise seemed to have been lost, or a debtor seemed to be unable to pay, Kamaswami could never convince his partner that it would be useful to utter a few words of worry or anger, to have wrinkles on the forehead, to sleep badly.	А у последнего забот была тьма. Если какому-нибудь затеянному им делу грозила неудача, если возникали опасения, что отправленный товар пропал в дороге или что какой-нибудь должник окажется несостоятельным - Камасвами никогда не удавалось убедить своего сотрудника, что он поможет горю, если громко будет выражать свое огорчение или гнев, ходить с нахмуренным лбом, плохо спать по ночам.
When, one day, Kamaswami held against him that he had learned everything he knew from him, he replied:	Когда однажды Камасвами поставил ему на вид, что он научился делу у него, Сиддхартха ответил:
"Would you please not kid me with such jokes!	-Ты шутишь, и очень неудачно!
What I've learned from you is how much a basket of fish costs and how much interests may be charged on loaned money.	От тебя я узнал, сколько стоит корзина с рыбой и сколько процентов можно потребовать за данные взаймы деньги.
These are your areas of expertise.	Вот и вся твоя наука!
I haven't learned to think from you, my dear Kamaswami, you ought to be the one seeking to learn from me."	Мыслить я научился не у тебя, дорогой Камасвами, ты бы лучше постарался научиться этому у меня.
Indeed his soul was not with the trade.	Несомненно, душа Сиддхартхи не лежала к торговле.
The business was good enough to provide him with the money for Kamala, and it earned him much more than he needed.	Он занимался делами лишь потому, что они доставляли ему деньги для Камалы. Они давали даже гораздо больше, чем ему требовалось.
Besides from this, Siddhartha's interest and curiosity was only concerned with the people, whose businesses, crafts, worries, pleasures, and acts of foolishness used to be as alien and distant to him as the moon.	Вообще же его интерес возбуждали лишь те люди, чьи дела, занятия, заботы, увеселения и заблуждения были раньше чужды ему и далеки, как месяц на небе.
However easily he succeeded in talking to all of them, in living with all of them, in learning from all of them, he was still aware that there was something which separated him from them and this separating factor was him being a Samana.	Как ни умел он разговаривать и сходиться с людьми, узнавать от них новое, все же он ясно сознавал, что есть нечто, отделяющее его от других, и это нечто - его саманство.
He saw mankind going trough life in a childlike or animallike manner, which he loved and also despised at the same time.	Он видел, какую ребяческую или чисто животную жизнь ведут люди, которых он в одно и то же время любил и презирал.
He saw them toiling, saw them suffering, and becoming gray for the sake of things which seemed to him to entirely unworthy of this price, for money, for little pleasures, for being slightly honoured, he saw them scolding and insulting each other, he saw them complaining about pain at which a Samana would only smile, and suffering because of deprivations which a Samana would not feel.	Он видел, как они хлопочут, страдают и седеют из-за вещей, которые, на его взгляд, совсем не стоили этого - из-за денег, маленьких удовольствий, мелких почестей. Он видел, как они упрекают и поносят друг друга, как они стонут от боли, которую самана переносит с улыбкой, как страдают от лишений, которых самана и не чувствует.
