The old man was watching (старик /внимательно/ наблюдал /за голубями/), and soon he saw one of the doves walking around the other eleven (и вскоре он увидел, как один из голубей ходит вокруг других одиннадцати) and hitting some of them a clip of its bill (и наносит некоторым из них /довольно сильные/ удары своим клювом; to hit – ударять; clip – стрижка; сильный удар, затрещина, тумак; to clip – зажимать, сжимать; крепко схватить; стричь /ножницами/), and then it raised its wings (а затем он поднял свои крылья), and the old man saw the spot (и старик увидел /то самое/ пятно). The bird let its wings down again (голубь вновь опустил свои крылья: «птица опустила…»; to let down – опускать), and went to eating with the rest (и принялся есть = клевать /пшеницу/ с остальными /голубями/; to go – идти, уходить; начинать /что-л. делать/).

The father never let his eyes off the bird (отец ни разу не спустил глаз с той птицы; never – никогда; ни разу). After a while he said to the Gruagach (спустя какое-то время он сказал Груагаху), “I’ll have that bird there for my son (я возьму: «буду иметь» вон ту птицу в качестве своего сына).”

“Well (что ж),” said the Gruagach, “that is your son (это твой сын). I can’t blame you for having him (я не могу винить тебя в том, что ты его узнал: «за обладание им»); but I blame your instructor for the information he gave you (но я обвиняю того, кто тебя подучил: «твоего учителя», за ту информацию, которую он тебе дал; to give /gave, given/), and I give him my curse (и я его проклинаю: «даю ему мое проклятие»).”

 The father never let his eyes off the bird. After a while he said to the Gruagach, “I’ll have that bird there for my son.”

“Well,” said the Gruagach, “that is your son. I can’t blame you for having him; but I blame your instructor for the information he gave you, and I give him my curse.”

So the old fisherman got his son back in his proper shape (итак, старый рыбак вернул себе своего сына в его обычном виде: «получил назад своего сына в присущем ему виде»; proper – присущий, свойственный; правильный, надлежащий, должный; shape – форма, очертание; вид, образ, облик), and away they went, father and son, from the house of the Gruagach (и они – отец и сын – пошли прочь из дома Груагаха). The old man felt stronger now (теперь старик чувствовал себя сильнее; to feel /felt/ – чувствовать /себя/), and they never stopped travelling a day (и они ни разу не прервали своего путешествия ни на один день; to stop – останавливать, задерживать; прекращать, кончать) till they came home (пока они не пришли = не вернулись домой).
