The sun went down (солнце село: «пошло вниз»); and while they were talking (и пока они разговаривали), the husband rushed in (/ее/ муж ворвался внутрь; to rush – бросаться, мчаться, нестись), and the noise of him was terrible (и шум его = издаваемый им шум был ужасен; terrible – страшный, внушающий страх; /эмоц. – усил./ ужасный, жуткий, кошмарный). He came in the form of a ram (он прибыл в облике барана; form – форма, внешний вид; обличье), ran up stairs (взбежал вверх по лестнице; to run /ran, run/), and soon after came down a man (и вскоре после /этого/ вниз спустился мужчина).

 The sun went down; and while they were talking, the husband rushed in, and the noise of him was terrible. He came in the form of a ram, ran up stairs, and soon after came down a man.

“Who is this that’s with you (кто это с тобой: «кто это, который с тобой»)?” asked he of the wife (спросил он у жены).

“Oh (о)! that’s my brother (это мой брат), who has come from Erin to see me (который пришел из Ирландии повидать меня; to see – видеть; видеться, встречаться),” said she.

 “Who is this that’s with you?” asked he of the wife.

“Oh! that’s my brother, who has come from Erin to see me,” said she.

Next morning (на следующее утро), when the man of the castle was going off in the form of a ram (когда хозяин замка собирался уходить в обличии барана; man – мужчина, человек), he turned to the boy and asked (он повернулся к мальчику и спросил), “Will you stay a few days in my castle (ты пробудешь несколько дней в моем замке; to stay – оставаться, не уходить; останавливаться, гостить; few – немного, мало; a few – несколько)? You are welcome (добро пожаловать).”

 Next morning, when the man of the castle was going off in the form of a ram, he turned to the boy and asked, “Will you stay a few days in my castle? You are welcome.”

“Nothing would please me better (ничто не доставило бы мне большего удовольствия; to please – нравиться, доставлять удовольствие; better – лучше; в большей степени, больше),” said the boy; “but I have made a vow (но я дал клятву; to make /made/ – делать; vow – обет, клятва, зарок; to make a vow – дать клятву, обет, зарок) never to sleep three nights in one house (никогда не спать три ночи /подряд/ в одном /и том же/ доме) till I have found my three sisters (пока я не найду трех своих сестер; to find /found/).”

 “Nothing would please me better,” said the boy; “but I have made a vow never to sleep three nights in one house till I have found my three sisters.”
