The ivory horns were heaped with purple amethysts, and the horns of brass with chalcedonies and sards. The pillars, which were of cedar, were hung with strings of yellow lynx-stones. And the thing shall be done to-night (и это дело будет сделано сегодня же вечером; thing — вещь, предмет; дело), for I would not that the Sun (потому что я не хочу, чтобы Солнце), who is my father (мой отец: «которое есть мой отец»), should see (увидело) that there is in my city a man (что в моем городе есть человек) whom I cannot slay (которого я не могу умертвить/убить)."

`And the Emperor frowned (и Император нахмурился). "It is but a ring of lead (это всего лишь кольцо из свинца)," he cried (вскричал он), "nor has it any value (и не имеет оно никакой ценности; value — ценность, важность, полезность). Therefore take thy half of the treasure (поэтому забирай свою половину сокровищ) and go from my city (и ступай из моего города)."
