I was preparing for my visit to the Emperor of Blefuscu when an important person at Court came, very privately, to my house one night.

He said that several private Council meetings about me had been held recently. His Majesty had come to a decision two days ago.

He told me that Skyresh Bolgolam — the High Admiral (он = мой гость сообщил мне, что Скайреш Болголам, верховный адмирал) — had been my enemy since I arrived (со дня моего прибытия: «с тех пор, как я прибыл» стал моим врагом).
