Сказка о царе Салтане

All in mail a-gleaming bright,	В чешуе, как жар горя,
Marching proudly left and right,	Идут витязи четами,
Two by two; and Chernomor, Hoary-headed, went before, Leading them in martial state	И, блистая сединами, Дядька впереди идет
Right up to the city gate,	И ко граду их ведет.
Prince Guidon, with flying feet,	С башни князь Гвидон сбегает,
Ran in haste his guests to greet;	Дорогих гостей встречает;
Crowds pressed round in unbelief.	Второпях народ бежит;
"Prince," proclaimed the hoary chief-	Дядька князю говорит:
"It is by the swan's request	"Лебедь нас к тебе послала
And, at her express behest,	И наказом наказала
We have come from out the sea Your fair city's guards to be.	Славный город твой хранить
Henceforth, from the ocean blue,	И дозором обходить.
We will always come to you	Мы отныне ежеденно Вместе будем непременно
Every day, on guard to stand By your lofty walls so grand.	У высоких стен твоих Выходить из вод морских,
Now, however, we must go- We're not used to land, you know:	Так увидимся мы вскоре, А теперь пора нам в море;
We'll return, I promise you."	Тяжек воздух нам земли".
And they disappeared from view.	Все потом домой ушли.
Breezes o'erthe ocean play	Ветер по морю гуляет
Speed a barque upon its way;	И кораблик подгоняет;
Sails all spread, it skims the seas,	Он бежит себе в волнах
Running swiftly 'fore the breeze,	На поднятых парусах
Past a craggy island, where	Мимо острова крутого,
Stands a city, proud and fair.	Мимо города большого;
Cannons with a mighty roar	Пушки с пристани палят,
Bid the merchants put to shore;	Кораблю пристать велят.
When the merchants land, Guidon	Пристают к заставе гости.
Bids them be his guests anon;	Князь Гвидон зовет их в гости,
Feasts them first with meat and wine,	Их и кормит и поит
Then he says:	И ответ держать велит:
"Now, masters mine- Tell me what you have for sale,	"Чем вы, гости, торг ведете?
Whither bound, and whence you hail?"	И куда теперь плывете?"
