It only takes her about two seconds to get wide-awake.	- Минуты не прошло, а сна ни в одном глазу!

You'll wake everybody up."	Ты всех перебудишь.
"What time is it?	- А который час?
They won't be home till very late, Mother said.	Мама сказала, что они вернутся очень поздно.
They went to a party in Norwalk, Connecticut," old Phoebe said.	Они поехали в гости в Норуолк, в Коннектикут.
"Guess what I did this afternoon!	Угадай, что я делала сегодня вечером?
What movie I saw.	Знаешь, какой фильм видела?
Guess!"	Угадай!
"I don't know--Listen.	- Не знаю, слушай-ка, а они не сказали, в котором часу...
Didn't they say what time they'd--"	- "Доктор" - вот!
"The Doctor," old Phoebe said.	Это особенный фильм, его показывали в Листеровском обществе.
"It's a special movie they had at the Lister Foundation.	Один только день - только один день, понимаешь?
Just this one day they had it--today was the only day. It was all about this doctor in Kentucky and everything that sticks a blanket over this child's face that's a cripple and can't walk.	Там про одного доктора из Кентукки, он кладет одеяло девочке на лицо, она калека, не может ходить.
Then they send him to jail and everything.	Его сажают в тюрьму и все такое.
It was excellent."	Чудная картина!
"Listen a second.	- Да погоди ты!
Didn't they say what time they'd--"	Они не сказали, в котором часу...
"He feels sorry for it, the doctor.	- А доктору ее ужасно жалко.
That's why he sticks this blanket over her face and everything and makes her suffocate.	Вот он и кладет ей одеяло на голову, чтоб она задохнулась.
Then they make him go to jail for life imprisonment, but this child that he stuck the blanket over its head comes to visit him all the time and thanks him for what he did.	Его на всю жизнь посадили в тюрьму, но эта девочка, которую он придушил одеялом, все время является ему во сне и говорит спасибо за то, что он ее придушил.
He was a mercy killer.	Оказывается, это милосердие, а не убийство.
