“Words can’t convey how disappointed they were! Turned out that there was only one method that could help their son — he had to be taught so intensively that the process would more accurately be referred to as training. Only then, after several years of hard work, would he have any kind of chance to integrate into society. The parents would’ve had to work with the child non-stop, but neither the mother nor the father wanted to leave work.”

У меня было ощущение, что я слушаю сказку на ночь. Глаза закрывались, но я держалась: какое-то восьмое чувство шептало мне, что Вильям Ботс не будет рассказывать историю просто так.

I felt like I was listening to a bedtime story. My eyes closed, but I held on — some kind of sixth sense whispered to me that William Bots wouldn’t tell a story just because.

— И тогда им на помощь пришла робототехника, — продолжал Ботс. — Чтобы учебный процесс не прекращался ни на минуту, папа заказал учителя-андроида. В отличие от человека, робот никогда не уставал повторять материал, был всегда спокоен и, конечно, помнил точную статистику ответов ученика. Мальчик выполнял 98%  заданий правильно — и только тогда электронный учитель переходил к следующему шагу в обучении. Но это еще не все.

“And that’s when robotics came to their aid,” Bots continued. “To keep the learning process going non-stop, the dad hired a teaching android. Unlike a human, a robot never got tired of repeating the same material, was always calm and, of course, remembered the exact statistics of its student’s answers. Once the boy could complete 98% of assignments correctly — then, and only then, would the electronic teacher move on to the next stage of education. But that wasn’t all.

Андроиду была поставлена задача помочь мальчику, но никаких ограничений оговорено не было. А мы знаем, как много информации может переработать электронный мозг, это ведь не чета человеческому. Вот и электронный нянь изобрел медицинское решение проблемы на молекулярном уровне: в организм мальчика были запущены наноботы, которые смогли разблокировать нефункционирующие ранее участки мозга.

The android was ordered to help the boy, but he wasn’t given any limits. And we know how much information an electronic brain can process — human brain doesn’t even come close. So this electronic nanny invented a medical solution on molecular level. Nanobots were injected into the boy’s organism, and they could unblock the previously non-functional parts of the brain.

Правда, все равно пришлось еще пару лет потрудиться с обучением: разблокировать мозг мало, надо еще связи наработать. Дальше — больше: мальчик, наконец, получил возможность использовать свой природный умственный потенциал. И он стал известным и успешным человеком, но это перевоплощение оказалось возможным только благодаря роботу.

Though, admittedly, the robot had to keep teaching for another two years. Unblocking the brain wasn’t enough — you had to train it. But after all that hard work, the boy finally had a chance to use his natural intelligence potential. He became a well-known and successful person, but this transformation was only possible thanks to a robot.”
